    Hunters Run, a gated residential community in Boynton Beach, will recover about $28,000 of fees to support a municipal public art program, and city commissioners agreed to narrow the scope of the fees.

    Carl Sloan, president of the Hunters Run community, told the Sun-Sentinel “the concept of the law is terrific. But …  we’re in a private gated community, the public doesn’t come in to see our art.” [more]

    Eight companies affiliated with custom home builder John B. Kennelly will try to sell or refinance properties in Broward and Palm Beach counties to pay off defaulted debt.

    The Kennelly-affiliated companies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year to avoid foreclosure by secured creditor BI Boca Boynton Portfolio LLC, which has a judgment exceeding $38 million. [more]

    GL Homes bought 242 acres next to the Florida Turnpike

    More than 240 acres in Palm Beach County were sold to a Sunrise-based home builder for what will likely become a housing development.

    An affiliate of GL Homes paid $17.5 million for the site, which is currently zoned for agriculture.

    A Boynton Beach apartment project aimed to attract millennial renters received final approval from city commissioners on Wednesday.

    Three of the five commissioners voted in favor of the 184-unit apartment community in an area previously zoned for 110 single-family residences. Developer High Ridge Housing plans to build eight three-story buildings with apartments ranging from 800-square-foot one-bedroom units to 1,200-square-foot three-bedroom units at High Ridge and Miner roads. The developer is taking advantage of the city’s new Smart Growth parking ordinance to allow it to have a smaller parking ratio. [more]
