TRD’s Future City: How cities are evolving and AI is changing everything

Urban cores are transforming in response to work-from-home, the AI revolution and the implosion of office space, raising questions for principals, investors and developers on how to harness the changes and fuel the evolution of cities and communities. 

Leaders and visionaries from around the real estate world will gather at TRD’s annual Future City executive retreat to participate in immersive conversations that will help them find answers. Here’s what they can expect: 

• Harvard’s premier architectural design professor Jose Luis Garcia del Castillo Lopez will host a discussion about how AI is affecting architecture and design, and how this revolutionary technology is already shaping the built world. 
• DPZ CoDesign Partner Marina Khoury will give an insider’s perspective on the economic, migration and development patterns influencing cities and whether developers are asking the right questions when planning projects. 
• Sam Chandan, founding director of NYU’s C.H. Chen Institute for Global Real Estate Finance, will break down the Fed’s latest moves, giving attendees insight into the effects money markets are likely to have on real estate financing in 2024 and beyond.

These top-level, academic insights will be sure to spark conversation among market movers confirmed to attend: 

• Josh Rahmani, whose Empire Capital Holdings has emerged as a key player in the NYC office market. He is buying up properties across Midtown, including the 40-story 1330 Sixth Avenue from RXR and Blackstone for $320 million and 529 Fifth Avenue from Silverstein for $107.5 million.
• Michael Hershman, whose storied career began in counterterrorism and private investigations before he became CEO of the Soloviev Group. He is now overseeing the firm’s bid to develop one of three downstate New York casinos.
• Robin Schneiderman, director of new business development and managing director for Brown Harris Stevens. He has been instrumental in the sourcing, development, and sales of more than 15 projects exceeding $3 billion in sell-outs over the past decade.

It’s all happening February 25 to 27 at the Baha Mar resort in The Bahamas, with a carefully vetted group of 150 attendees for a curated conversation with the best of the industry.
