Nassau Lighthouse project could evolve

Scott Rechler, one of the developers of the Lighthouse project at the Nassau Coliseum, said plans for the 77-acre site would evolve according to residents’ needs. For starters, co-developer Charles Wang’s proposed lighthouse has been scrapped in favor of a manmade canal that would flow through the center of Hempstead Plains. Residents are most concerned about transportation and traffic issues, which could be helped by underground garages and shuttle buses. The amount of affordable housing has yet to be determined.
