The Cheyenne Diner, the western and Native American-themed diner that has been in business for 68 years at Ninth Avenue and West 33rd Street, will close after losing its lease to a rival diner around the corner. The owner of the Skylight Diner, which has owned the Cheyenne since 2003, plans a nine-story building with 13 one- and two-bedroom apartments and a two-floor restaurant on the narrow site. The Cheyenne’s owner says he is looking for a new location. Last year, the Moondance Diner closed at Sixth Avenue and Broome Street and was moved to Wyoming.
