A state lawmaker has called for the developers of the $1.2-billion, 2,200-unit Domino Sugar
mega-project to explain why they need to build two 30-story and two
40-story towers. Assemblyman Joe Lentol, a Williamsburg Democrat, said
he wants to independently assess the project’s finances. Community
Preservation Corporation Resources, one of the developers, said it
needs to build high to pay for the restoration of the hisoric refinery
buildings, build open space and create 660 units of affordable housing.
Last month, CPC filed paperwork that called for a hotel, though it
denies there are any hotel plans.
