East Village listing provides help to the very tall
Sometimes high ceilings are more functional than fanciful. An East Village townhouse, which was built to fit its nearly 7-foot owner, has hit the market, DNAinfo reported. Town Residential’s Chad Thomas has the listing, located at 56 East 1st Street, with a $6.5 million ask.
The owner built the home on a vacant lot in 2005. It features 20-foot ceilings on the top three stories. The 6-foot-9 owner, a California native, liked the feel of the East Village, but not its cramped housing units. There are also two terrace spaces that look over Houston Street.
“This Is Such A Unique Place,” Thomas told DNAinfo.
The home has 2,400 square feet, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The home spans the third through fifth stories, as there’s a separate tenant on the second floor and retail space at ground level. [DNAinfo] —Zachary Kussin
