Gagosian sells UES carriage house for $18M

Famed art dealer bought stable-turned-luxury home in 1988

Art mogul Larry Gagosian is leaving his beautiful Upper East Side carriage house after selling the property for $18 million.

Gagosian sold the carriage house, at 147 East 69th Street between Lexington and Third avenues, to Sascha Bauer — chairman of the Long Island City contemporary gallery SculptureCenter.

The art dealer, famed for working with artists like Cy Twombly and Richard Serra, had owned the former stable-turned-luxury home since 1988, according to the New York Daily News.

He reportedly filled the property with multimillion-dollar works of art, including an original Picasso that hung over his bed.

Gagosian won’t be leaving the Upper East Side for good, however – he still owns the former Harkness Mansion at 4 East 75th Street, which he bought for $36.5 million in 2011. [NYDN] — Rey Mashayekhi
