John Zuccotti’s Fifth Avenue condo hits the market

From LLNYC: A Fifth Avenue apartment owned by the late real estate executive and deputy mayor John Eugene Zuccotti (yes, as in Zuccotti Park) has just hit the market asking $2.9 million, per StreetEasy records.

Zuccotti is credited with helping to redevelop lower Manhattan after the Sept. 11th attacks, and was the chair of global operations for Brookfield Asset Management. The park named after him downtown was the center of the Occupy Wall Street protests in 2011, which made his name more widely known outside of the real estate world. He died in November 2015 of a heart attack at the age of 78.

He and his wife Susan, a Holocaust historian, bought the apartment at 1049 Fifth Avenue in 2013 for $2.575 million. The listing, with Sarah Bond and Nancy Benedict of Corcoran, notes that it can be configured either as a two bedroom plus a dining room, or a three bedroom. It has hardwood floors, high ceilings and its own storage unit.
