These Rite Aid stores are closing in the New York metro area

Hundreds of Rite Aid locations are expected to shutter after the pharmacy chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection over the weekend.

The company counts more than 2,000 stores in its portfolio, mostly on either coast of the country. Rite Aid plans to continue filling prescriptions, but has already set a plan in motion to close more than 150 underperforming stores.

The retailer expects to lose as much as $680 million during the current fiscal year, according to the Associated Press. Rite Aid has $7.6 billion in assets and $8.6 billion in total debts. The company did agree with some creditors to a financial restructuring plan to cut debt. It also landed $3.45 billion in new financing.

While Rite Aid said it did not know what stores would be targeted for closure initially, bankruptcy filings revealed the list of initial stores set to close.
