Freedom Tower must be redesigned

Gov. George E. Pataki, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and developer Larry A. Silverstein have ordered a complete redesign of the Freedom Tower, Ground Zero’s iconic building, in the wake of police department worries about security. Architect David Childs should present a new design, most likely without the tower’s signature twisting form and distinctive spire, within several weeks. more [NYT]
