The Landmarks Preservation Commission is expected to approve today a $16 million redesign of 9.75-acre Washington Square Park that would shift the park’s centerpiece fountain, level the park, move two dog runs, flatten three asphalt mounds, replace a plaza with a lawn, and add a four-foot granite and iron fence to the perimeter along with gates that could be locked at night.
