Whitney expands, brownstone saved

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted yesterday to approve a modified expansion plan for the Whitney Museum of American Art that would prevent the razing of one Madison Avenue brownstone. Architect Renzo Piano agreed to half the size of a proposed new entrance for the museum to spare the brownstone. more [NYT]
