West Side stadium leaps legal hurdle

A state judge in Manhattan ruled Thursday afternoon that the MTA legally sold its West Side Rail Yards to the New York Jets. The ruling clears a major obstacle in the plans for a new NFL stadium and perhaps an Olympics venue, should the city land the 2012 Games. The state’s Public Authorities Control Board, which holds public purse strings for the stadium, may vote as early as Friday on providing $300 million in state aid for construction.more [Newsday]
