SoFi: Birth of a neighborhood?

Redevelopment along Fifth Avenue from 23rd Street to 42nd Street is prompting some in the city to dub the area SoFi for South Fifth. The area is more noted now for its shopping, but does have its roots in high-end residences. It could be a distinct neighborhood on the rise as office buildings are converted to residential and fresh condos go up. Or it could be a lot of hype.more [Newsday]
