The International Olympics Committee released its report today on the five candidate cities for the 2012 summer Games, including New York. The section on the city veered from the bold – “New York envisages a major construction programme for the Olympic Games” – to the understated – “The city has a good record of hosting major events.” The report also noted the city’s commitment to $276.6 million in capital investments for new sports facilities. A decision on which city will host is not expected until July.more [olympic.org]
