Bloomberg: new Mets stadium for Olympics bid

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Sunday night that he would back a new stadium for the New York Mets to be built next to the team’s existing Shea Stadium in Flushing. The stadium would also be converted for the 2012 summer Olympics, should New York land them next month. The stadium would be paid for by the Mets, and improvements around Shea and the new ballpark would be paid for by the state and the city. more [Daily News]
