The $90 million sale of a 40-acre estate in East Hampton has set a national record for residential property sales, according to the New York Post. Oil heiress and photographer Adelaide de Menil Carpenter has sold her sprawling estate to an undisclosed buyer described only as a Swedish industrialist who has rented in the Hamptons the past few summers. The new sale eclipses the previous residential record set by the $70 million sale of Ron Perelman’s Palm Beach estate in 2004. more [Post]
