Supreme Court rules against homeowners

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Thursday morning that local governments may seize people’s homes and businesses against their will for private development. The ruling decided the fate of some Connecticut homeowners whose houses were slated for destruction to make room for an office complex. The homeowners had argued that local governments should only be allowed to seize private property if it’s going to be used for a clear public use, such as schools. more [NYT]
