Law may save more homes in bankruptcies

A recent change in state law will allow more New Yorkers to save their homes should they file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Residents can now shield $50,000 in home equity, up from $10,000, when declaring bankruptcy. Couples who own a home together can shield $100,000. more [Newsday]
