Tentative deal averts doorman strike

A tentative deal late last night averted a strike by thousands of residential building workers in the city. The deal, announced at 1:10 a.m., calls for a raise of 8.5 percent over four years for the workers at buildings in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. more [NYT]
