If you want to rent a relatively nice apartment in New York City for $1,000 or less, you’ll probably have to look outside of Manhattan. You’re sure to find them in the outer boroughs: A survey released earlier this year by the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development found that $1,000 is the average price of a privately owned nonregulated rental in New York. more [NYT]
