A Wolfe gone wrong

In a New York Times opinion piece last month, writer Tom Wolfe sounded off on the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, saying the body, “has been de facto defunct for going on 20 years,” and that, in its current incarnation, is nothing more than “a bureau of the walking dead.” According to a column in the New York Observer, the idea that members of the Landmarks Commission are “pawns of the developer class” simply doesn’t hold water. more [NYO]
