A state board has approved Brooklyn’s Atlantic Yards project, clearing the way for construction of the $4 billion mixed-use development. The three-member Public Authorities Control Board, consisting of Governor George Pataki, Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, unanimously approved the project at its meeting this afternoon. In order to quell concerns raised by Silver, developer Forest City Ratner agreed to scale down the project’s signature “Miss Brooklyn” tower. more [NYDN]
