Deadly building had prior violations

The building site at 280 West 113th Street where a roof collapsed yesterday and killed a worker had a history of construction violations. In August the Department of Buildings issued a stop-work order on the site; the order was canceled in November and building resumed. The Times reports that there was a spike in the number of construction-related deaths in 2006, with 29 workers killed on the job. more [NYT]
