Empire State Development Corp. Chairman Charles Gargano asked U.S. Postal officials yesterday to grant an extension on the state’s window of opportunity to purchase the James A. Farley Post Office at 421 Eighth Avenue. The state planned to transform the post office into the proposed Moynihan train station, which would link to Penn Station. New York currently has until Dec. 31 to acquire the property but has only raised $50 million towards the post office’s $230 million price tag. more [Post]
