Washington Mutual Inc. made the highest percentage of risky mortgage loans last year of the top five U.S. home mortgage lenders. The high-risk loans–those made to investors or second-home buyers–are considered more potentially volatile than loans made to owner occupants. Of the top five lenders, WaMu and Citigroup issued the most subrime mortgages. more [WSJ]
