27-year Yonkers housing suit settled

A 27-year-old lawsuit in Yonkers over housing segregation was finally settled yesterday. The NAACP filed a lawsuit in 1980 contending that the city’s housing policies separated less-affluent minorities from more-affluent white residents. The lawsuit was spurred by the construction of an 800-unit public and affordable housing complex in what was a mostly white, middle-class section of Yonkers. more [NYT]
