City plans development of SI parcel

The Economic Development Corporation released an RFP last week for a land use and transportation plan to govern the development of a massive site on Staten Island’s West Shore. Most Staten Island politicians want the 5,700-acre site, which includes brownfields, wetlands and Fresh Kills Park, to be given over to commercial and industrial–rather than residential–development. The city says it will consider a variety of uses for the land. more [Sun]
