Class A office space is being developed in the Bronx as part of two separate projects, the expansion of the Hutchinson Metro Center and the construction of the 285,000-square-foot Fordham Place. Simone Development Companies is building the Hutchinson Metro Center, in Pelham Bay, an office complex. The first building in the Hutchinson complex, which offers 460,000 square feet of Class A space, is fully leased. Acadia Realty Trust, meanwhile, is developing Fordham Place, which involves the renovation and expansion of a building that used to be a Sears. Although Acadia said it would focus on building modern retail space at the site, the trust now says demand for office space in the Bronx is causing it to consider building office space as well. more [NYT]
