Copeland’s, a soul food restaurant on West 145th Street that’s been in operation for 50 years, will close next weekend. The eatery’s owner, Calvin Copeland, can’t afford rent payments. Copeland says his business is no longer viable given gentrification in Harlem because the area’s newer residents haven’t become steady customers. more [NYT]
