Queens College dorm developer chosen

Alabama-based Capstone Development Corp. has been selected to build low-rise dormitories on Queens College’s campus in Flushing. The school says it wants to build the student housing–which will probably include beds for around 500 students–because it needs to offer dorms in order to draw top students. Many local residents oppose Queens College’s $63 million plan to construct dorms because they say the residential spaces will bring noise, traffic and litter to the area. more [NYDN]
