Push to extend Red Hook lease

City Councilman David Yassky will introduce a bill to the Council asking the Port Authority to give shipping company American Stevedoring a long-term lease at Piers 7-10 in Red Hook. The company has been operating without a lease since April as the city readied a redevelopment plan for a large swath of the Brooklyn neighborhood’s waterfront that included cruise ship terminals and new retail. The push to extend the shipping company’s lease follows recent news that that the city will not seek to shut down Red Hook’s container port as part of its planned redevelopment. more [Post]
