The United Nations is expected to announce today that construction giant Skanska USA Building has been selected to undertake the preconstruction phase of the organization’s plan to refurbish its campus and build a new tower between 41st and 42nd streets. Although Skanska has only been hired for the first part of the U.N.’s $1.9 billion project, the assignment puts the firm in a favorable position to win the full construction contract, which would likely be worth around $1 billion. more [Sun]
