NYCHA funding bill awaits Spitzer OK

A bill that could bring more money to the New York City Housing Authority is expected to arrive on Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s desk this week. The bill, a priority for city affordable housing advocates, would increase the shelter allowance given to those on public assistance who are in public housing. Currently the state and city provides public housing residents a shelter allowance equal to approximately a third to the shelter allowances of those living in privately owned housing. more By John Celock
