Tenants of Starrett City and members of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now protested yesterday at the office of owner Starrett City Associates. The crowd entered the office at 150 East 58th Street with chants of “Keep Starrett City affordable.” The protest comes as Clipper Equities’ $1.3 billion bid for the complex, which was rejected by both state and federal agencies, is due to expire on August 10th. Tenants want the current owners to reach an agreement with the city and state that will ensure continued affordability before the complex is back up for bidding. more [GlobeSt]
