Developer Cary Tamarkin’s condos are rising in the West Village and West Chelsea after a drawn-out legal battle over his properties there ended earlier this month. At 397 West 12th Street in the West Village, five apartments in a 10-story building are expected to range between $5.5 million and $14 million. At 456 West 19th Street in West Chelsea, 22 duplexes will fetch between $1,500 to $2,800 a square foot. Tamarkin, the architect and a commercial tenant at the West 12th Street property, sued his landlord Victor Zupa and developer Madison Capital Management after Zupa attempted to sell the properties to Madison Capital for $22 million. Tamarkin’s lease gave him the first chance to purchase the parcels. Tamarkin bought them during the litigation for $24 million. more [Sun]
