Brooklyn Bridge Park plans gain steam

After a new president takes over the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation, major work is expected to finally begin on the delayed 1.3-mile waterfront park north of Atlantic Avenue early next year. Structures on Piers 1 to 5 and the Purchase Building will be demolished, followed by physical building of certain park areas. The Brooklyn Academy of Music and the St. Ann’s Warehouse have proposed converting the abandoned Tobacco Warehouse into the park’s arts and cultural center. Regina Myer, the long-time head of Brooklyn City Planning, will become the park’s new chief.
