Dock St. project protested

A group of protesters are collecting signatures to fight a Dock Street
mixed-use development proposed for Dumbo. The Two Trees project would include a
40,000-square-foot public middle school, 400 rental apartments,
including 80 affordable units, and 10,000 square feet of retail. Groups
such as the Dumbo Neighborhood Association and the Brooklyn Heights
Association say the proposed building would be too big and too close to
the Brooklyn Bridge. The protesters said they have collected 2,000 of
the 10,000 signatures they’re hoping to get. The site, nearly an acre big, is bounded by Water Street, Dock Street and Front Street.
