Polo Ralph Lauren will temporarily relocate while it expands and possibly replaces its store at Madison Avenue and 72nd Street. Friedland Properties plans to demolish the two-story, 10,000-foot structure and build a new four-story 20,000-square foot Beaux Arts-style building. The plan needs zoning and Landmarks Commission approvals. A neighboring townhouse at 22 East 72nd Street is also owned by Friedland and is being vacated by art galleries. Polo will set up shop at an 11,000-square foot store at 1055 Madison Avenue and 80th Street.
