A building owned by developer Jared Kushner collapsed today. Kushner, owner and publisher of The New York Observer, bought the five-story prewar building at 102 East 124th Street along with the adjacent property at 100 East 124th in 2006 for $5.2 million. Both properties were vacant and slated for demolition. City officials said the building at 100 East 124th was compromised by the collapse and would be demolished shortly. The collapse caused service on the three main lines of the Metro-North Railroad to be temporarily suspended.
