New brownstones coming to Brooklyn

It’s been a while since brownstones were built in en masse
in Brooklyn. This summer developer Abby Hamlin
plans to break ground on a row of nine single-family brownstones along State Street to the
corner of Hoyt Street
in Boerum Hill. The four-story, 4,000-square-foot brownstones will be similar
to a row of 14 that Hamlin and built with Time Equities Inc. down the block and
across Smith Street
a year and a half ago. Those homes brought in between $2.5 million and $2.8
million each. Hamlin and Time Equities bought the block between State, Hoyt,
Smith and Schermerhorn streets from the state in 2004. This summer, a 217-unit
housing complex called Schermerhorn house is slated to open for low-income
tenants.
