Checking in Bellevue Hospital may soon have a whole new meaning. The city’s Economic Development Corporation and Health and Hospitals division is looking for a private developer to turn the notorious psychiatric institution into a hotel and conference center. The city issued a Request for Proposals last week for the 400,000 square-foot, nine-story facility. EDC officials say the new hotel will need to cater to the medical community that it is expecting to flood into the planned nearby bioscience park once that’s finished in 2009.
