Although coastal Long Island City has already been heralded as the next big thing in residential development, the lesser known and under-developed inland area is now also getting attention. In addition to new condominiums, the New York City Economic Development Corporation is taking on two projects to help the area, including a $40 million renovation of the Queens Plaza and a $15 million makeover of Jackson Avenue. The area still lacks in nightlife and restaurants, a problem that is slowly being remedied by the migration of artists and venue owners from Manhattan to Queens.
