The drop in housing values around the country has made the U.S. workforce less mobile. Normally, more than five million people, or almost 4 percent of the labor market, move for every year. But falling housing prices have made it difficult for people to sell their homes, just when the slowing economy makes moving to find a new job critical for many workers.
