New York City will get a new sky-high observation deck at the Freedom Tower. The Port Authority is looking for an operator to build and run the deck on the 102nd floor, the tower’s highest occupied floor at 1,300 feet. At 18,000 square feet, the deck will be smaller than the 44,000-square-foot space on the south World Trade Center tower’s 107th floor. Also announced yesterday: the Sept. 11 Memorial & Museum has reached its goal of raising $350 million in private funds. The museum is slated to open in 2011 and the Freedom Tower in 2012.
