A Queens state senator has pledged $15,000 in state money to low-income
tenants for a legal fight against Vantage Properties. Sen. John Sabini,
a Democrat says Vantage is forcing the tenants out of 80
rent-stabilized buildings and another 20 in Manhattan so rents can be
hiked. As The Real Deal
first reported, Vantage recently closed on one of the largest
residential transactions in Queens in years with the $300 million
purchase of a portfolio of apartment buildings owned by landlord
Nicholas Haros.
