Community support could be crucial for PlaNYC’s success

In the wake of the failed congestion pricing plan, some question
whether Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s PlaNYC program will be doomed by a
lack of community support. The administration’s 25-year plan, which
aims to make the city greener for an influx of up to 1 million new
residents by 2030, may have its merits, but some observers say
community input cannot be overlooked if the plan is to succeed. The
long-term initiative includes goals such as building 350,000 new
housing units over the next few decades and making improvements to 290
public school playgrounds citywide.
