Little League baseball resumed yesterday on a Battery Park City field where a plate fell from the Goldman Sachs Tower on Saturday, following the city’s decision to shut down the site. Robert LiMandri, acting buildings commissioner, said construction would not resume until Tishman Construction can assure the city that the 45-story tower is safe. A 30-inch-square metal sheet fell from the 18th floor of the new headquarters being built at 200 Murray Street. LiMandri said the steel fell from an exterior elevator used to transport materials to the upper floors. Five months ago, an architect at the site was seriously injured by 7 tons of falling steel.
