Macklowe COO departs

Michael Szollosi, the chief operating officer of Macklowe Properties, has joined Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation, a commercial property firm, as COO and senior vice president. Previously he worked at Corporate Property Investors, where he managed its financial reporting and internal audit groups, and Equitable Real Estate. Cohen Brothers’ portfolio includes over 12 million square feet of Class A Manhattan office buildings. Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Harry Macklowe’s son, William, would push him aside to take control of the family’s real estate empire, following the Mackowes’ sale of the General Motors Building over the weekend.
