Queens studio expansion to break ground in fall

Kaufman Astoria Studios is finally going ahead with its major expansion, nine years after it was announced. The studio, one of New York City’s third largest, will break ground this fall on a building diagonally across 36th Street from its existing building. Eventually, the studio hopes to shut off 36th Street and create a gated studio lot with indoor and outdoor sets and build a tower that would combine a hotel and office space. Other New York City studios are looking to expand as well.
